JAN PHYL VILLAGE, Fla. - The Allegheny softball team collected their second sweep at The Spring Games in Florida, picking up a pair of extra inning wins Monday (March 6).

The Gators started the day with a 6-2 win against Concordia Moorhead before rallying to defeat Simmons 9-8.

Game 1 - Allegheny 6, Concordia Moorhead (Minn.) 2 (8 Innings)

Neither team cracked the scoreboard until the top of the fourth.
Sofia Genareo (Lakewood, N.Y./Southwestern Central) was hit by a pitch and
Sophia Godzak (Belle Vernon, Pa./Belle Vernon) was issued a walk to start the frame. Pinch runner
Anna Castlevetere (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) would come across the plate on a two-out error, giving the Gators a 1-0 lead.

After a diving catch in left field by
Audrey Blarr (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) ended the fifth inning,
Sophia Godzak (Belle Vernon, Pa./Belle Vernon) led off the sixth with a double to the right center gap. A batter later,
Hadley Horensky (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Seton LaSalle Catholic) doubled to left center, bringing Godzak around, making it 2-0.

However, the Cobbers plated two runs off a double in the seventh, sending the game into extra innings.

Genareo started the extra inning on second, and moved to third on a wild pitch. Godzak singled through the right side, plating Genareo to move the Gators ahead, 3-2.
Olivia Devries (Kent, Ohio/Field) then singled to shallow left, putting runners at first and second. After the runners moved up on a
Maley Gleason (Houston, Texas/Westside) sac bunt, a Cobbler error allowed both to score, making it 5-2.Â
Aleya Belardinelli (Melbourne, Fla./West Shore) followed up with an infield single that moved Blarr to third. Another error allowed Blarr to score as the Gators tallied four runs in the eighth.

Samantha Dzierba (Colden, N.Y./Orchard Park) completed the eighth inning by not allowing a runner in the bottom of the eighth while striking out the final batter for the win. In all, Dzierba struck out 10 while allowing just four hits in the complete game.

Inside the Box
- Godzak produced two hits, including a double, two runs and a RBI at the plate.
- Belardinelli and Devries had a pair of hits each.
- Horensky tallied a double while Halle Book (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Catholic) had a single.
- Dzierba struck out ten while allowing just four hits.
Game 2 - Allegheny 9, Simmons 8 (8 Innings)

The Sharks struck first, scoring a run on a RBI double in the top of the first. They added one more in the second to make it 2-0.

Godzak doubled in the second with one out before Devries singled to put runners on the corners. Horensky earned a walk to load the bases.
Samantha Phillips (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) singled up the middle, scoring a pinch-running Castlevetere to narrow the gap to one.

In the fourth, Godzak smacked her second double of the game. Later in the inning, Phillips doubled to left center, scoring Godzak and tying the game at two.Â

However, the Sharks utilized four hits in the top of the fifth to plate three runs regaining the lead, They tacked on two more in the sixth to make it 7-2.

A pair of walks and an error loaded the bases for the Gators in the sixth. Belardinelli would double to left center, scoring Godzak and Phillips. A walk issued to Book loaded the bases up again, but the Sharks escaped the inning without letting another run across.

Simmons added one more run in the top of the seventh to extend the lead to 8-4.Â

In the bottom of the frame, Genareo led off with a single down the first base line. After Godzak was walked, Devries loaded the bases with a single through the right side. Gleason, who was pinch running, scored on a wild pitch, dropping the deficit to three. Horensky earned a walk to load the bases again. Phillips came through with a RBI hit once again, plating Godzak to make it 8-6. A RBI groundout by
Eva Dillaman (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) scored Devries, cutting it to a one run game. Belardinelli grounded out to the pitcher, but Horensky slid in under the tag to tie the game and send it into extra innings for the second time on the day.

Belardinelli held the Sharks at bay in the top of the eighth forcing two flyouts after a sac bunt.

Cameron Long (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) started the eighth inning on second for the Gators. On the first pitch, Genareo hit a hard single down the third base line. Long rounded the corner and touched home safely as the Gators completed the comeback for their second win of the day.

- Phillips went three-for-three with three RBI, a double and a walk.
- Belardinelli drove in three runs as well with a double.
- Genareo, Godzak and Devries all had multi-hit games, with Godzak scoring three times.
