Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Another Near Comeback Falls Short for Men's Lacrosse at BWU

BEREA, Ohio -- The Allegheny College men's lacrosse team fell short of another fourth-quarter comeback on Wednesday night against Baldwin Wallace University, as the Yellow Jackets held on for an 8-6 non-conference victory.

Allegheny (2-4) scored the first goal of the contest, a man-up marker by Benjamin Gallegos (Lafayette, Colo/Dawson School) at 9:17 in the first quarter. However, the Yellow Jackets (5-2) potted seven consecutive goals over the next 15 minutes and jumped ahead 7-1. Although the hole proved too deep for the Gators to climb out of, they managed to make things interesting with a strong finish.

After allowing Baldwin Wallace's Bennet Trout to score at the 10:28 mark of the second quarter, Allegheny goalie David Kratzenberg (Latrobe, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) and the Gator defense clamped down, as the Yellow Jackets were limited to just one fourth-quarter tally in the remaining 40-plus minutes of regulation. Meanwhile, the AC offense went on a 4-0 run that spanned the second and third quarters, including another man-up goal from Jack Cushwa (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg), and the Gators trimmed the deficit to 7-5.

Aidan D'Amato (Tolland, Conn./Tolland) added his second goal of the night to bring Allegheny within two goals, 8-6, with nearly nine minutes to play. But Yellow Jackets righted the ship in time, and neither offense produced a goal until the final buzzer.
