ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Allegheny men's lacrosse team utilized a seven goal fourth quarter as they overcame a late deficit to defeat Mount Union 13-10 on the road Wednesday (March 1).

After the Raiders scored the first three goals of the contest, the Gators got on the board. Following a failed clear by the home team,
Aidan D'Amato (Tolland, Conn./Tolland) found the back of the net after dodging through heavy traffic. Minutes later,
Nicholas Cimillo (Palm Harbor, Fla./East Lake) struck from 10-yards out following a dish from A. D'Amato.Â

Early in the second quarter, a low shot by
Pete Schellbach (New York, N.Y./Salisbury School), assisted by A. D'Amatao, found its way to the back of the net, tying the game at three. However, the Raiders would score the final four goals of the half to lead 7-3 at halftime.

The Gators made up a goal in the first minute of the second half. After
Ryan Therkorn (Falls Church, Va./George C. Marshall) won the opening faceoff,
Jack Cushwa (Martinsburg, W. Va./Martinsburg) scored, cutting the deficit to three. The teams would trade goals throughout the frame with the Gators gaining some ground by winning the quarter with a 3-2 edge. A. D'Amato scored off a Schellbach assist while
Nick Gralewski scored, unassisted as the Gators trailed 9-6 going into the fourth.

The Gators would gain the lead midway through the fourth.
Gideon Sullivan (Getzville, N.Y./Cathedral (Ind.)) scored the first goal to cut the lead to two. Reigning Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Rookie of the Week
JP Rakis (Kensington, Md./Walter Johnson) then scored back-to-back goals to tie the game at nine. Gralewski's second goal of the night gave the Gators their first lead, 10-9.

The Raiders would tie the game once again with about six minutes left. Two minutes later, Sullivan put the Gators back in front after snagging a groundball rebound and scoring on a high shovel shot. Following a timeout, A. D'Amato completed the hat trick with a high bounce shot. A minute later, Sullivan completed his hat trick off an assist by
CT Graniel (Scranton Area, Pa./Preparatory), sealing the victory.

- Therkorn won 10 faceoffs and was second on the team with six groundballs.
