CANTON, Ohio -- On Saturday night, the Allegheny College men's swimming and diving team wrapped up action at the three-day Malone University Invitational, hosted by the Pioneers at C.T. Branin Natatorium.
The trio of
Emmett Manning (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel),
Jack Malnar (Brecksville, Ohio/Brecksville-Broadview Heights), and
Emmet Fluharty (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) represented the Gators in five different events, culminating in a trio of top-10 performances. Allegheny produced 188.5 points and finished 12th of the 14 teams in attendance at the midseason invite.
Manning came in eighth place in both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle races with a pair of season-best times. He also swam the second-best time of his collegiate career in the 100-yard backstroke finals at 55.59 seconds.
Malnar swam in the 50-, 100-, and 200-yard freestyle events. His 50.46 seconds in the 100-yard race was 37 hundredths of a second quicker than his previous season-best. His best finish was in the 200-yard race, where he placed 10th in the finals at 1:51.10.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, Fluharty logged his best time of the season en route to a 13th-place performance.
