Furgal Nets Winner Against Oberlin

OBERLIN, Ohio – The Allegheny field hockey team concluded their 2023 campaign with a 1-0 victory in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) road action against Oberlin Saturday (Oct. 28).

In the opening half of play, neither side was able to score a goal, though the Gators owned an advantage in shots, 3-1, and penalty corners, 9-2.

The Gators broke through in the third quarter. About midway through the frame, the Gators earned a penalty corner. Maddy Keenan's (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Trafford) insert found Hana Miller (Willards, Md./Worcester Preparatory School). Miller put a shot towards the goal which
Mallory Furgal (Middleburg, Va./Highland School) redirected to the back of the net, giving the Gators a 1-0 lead.

Furgal's goal proved to be all that was needed as the Gator defense limited the Oberlin offense to earn the shutout conference victory.
