LATROBE, Pa. -- Allegheny College men's swimming and diving suffered a 189-39 loss to the Bearcats of Saint Vincent College on the road Friday night in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
The Gators won one event and turned in five runner-up performances against the Bearcats, who hosted Allegheny at the Frank and Elizabeth Resnick Pool.
Both relay teams logged second-place finishes. The Gators opened the meet with a time of 4:00.34 in the 400-yard medley relay, just over a second behind Saint Vincent's top team. The 200-yard freestyle relay saw a similar result, as Allegheny's 1:31.93 was a mere 1.1 seconds behind the Bearcats.
Individually, sophomore
Emmet Fluharty (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) recorded his first win of the season in a tight race on Friday. His time of 1:05.98 in the 100-yard breaststroke was a mere 0.25 seconds better than Saint Vincent's Colin Spehar. Fluharty also placed fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Jack Malnar (Brecksville, Ohio/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) swam both the 100- and 200-yard freestyle events, and was the runner-up in both. The junior was just 44-hundredths of a second shy of the lead in the 100-yard race and only 56-hundredths of a second behind first place in the 200-yard race.

Emmett Manning (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) had one second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle spring, while junior
Jacob Anderson (Jamestown, N.Y./Jamestown) was third in both backstroke races.
