Napoleon Records Hat Trick in Win at Thiel

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Brady Napoleon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) recorded his second career hat trick as the Allegheny men's soccer team completed the 2023 regular season with a 5-3 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory at Thiel Tuesday (Oct. 24).

The Gators struck first in the contest. In the sixth minute, the Gators were awarded a penalty kick. Napoleon took the opportunity for the Gators and found the back of the net high on the goalie's right side.

The Tomcats were quick to answer, however, scoring just 50 seconds later to tie it up.

The score remained that way until the 32nd minute. A free-kick from near midfield by Gunnar Brettell (Stuebenville, Ohio/Indian Creek) found its way to Napoleon in the box, who headed it in to put the Gators back in front, 2-1.

Just a few minutes later, Napoleon completed the hat trick. Jose Cifuentes (Guatemala City, Guatemala/Kiski Prep (Pa.)) headed a cross from Will Gruca (Baden, Pa./Ambridge) across the box to Napoleon. Once more, Napoleon put the ball away with a header, increasing the lead to 3-1. The hat trick marked the second of his career.

In the second half, Thiel narrowed the gap to 3-2 with a goal in the 54th minute, but the Gators were quick to respond. Gruca picked up the ball in the box after a failed clearance and buried the ball inside the bottom corner to push the lead back to two goals.

The lead grew to three goals in the 77th minute. After a takeaway by Napoleon in Thiel territory, he passed it ahead to Darius Googe (East Hartford, Conn./East Hartford)/ Googe got by his defender and scored on a charging goalie, making it 5-2. Once again, a goal was answered with another quick one as Thiel scored a minute later to cut the lead to 5-3.

The score remained that way until the end as the Gators collected the conference win.
