Offense shines in 5-1 win over Mount Aloysius

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny women's soccer team collected a 5-1 win over Mount Aloysius Wednesday night (Sept. 28) in Meadville.
 
Allegheny got on the board early. In the sixth minute, Emma Miller (Elyria, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) scored off a pass from Cara Wood (Lancaster, Ohio/Bloom-Carroll), lofting the shot over the goalkeeper. 
 
After a Mountie goal, the Gators quickly regained the lead five minutes later when Julieta Schworm (Newark, Ohio/Licking Valley) headed in a Natasha Rosa (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) corner kick to the near post.
 
Miller struck again in the 59th minute. This time, Emily Beck (Martinsburg, W. Va./Martinsburg) crossed the ball to Miller who scored on a low corner shot. The Gators added another goal in the 78th minute when Hallie Johnson (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) tucked a shot inside the post from about 20-yards out after an Elle Carpenter (Waco, Texas/Midway) free kick.
 
Lilly Noel (Shepherdstown, W.Va./St. James) notched the final goal of the game in the 88th minute, striking a Schworm cross to the low corner.
 
Inside the Box
  • Miller scored goals in the sixth and 59th minutes, assisted by Wood and Beck, respectively.
  • Schworm scored on a corner kick by Rosa in the 37th minute.
  • Johnson scored off an assist from Carpenter in the 78th minute.
  • Noel scored off an assist from Schworm in the 88th minute.
  • Chloe MacLaren (Gainesville, Fla./PK Yonge Developmental and Research School) earned the win in goal, making four saves in her first start of the year.
  • The Gators out-shot their counterparts 20-8.
 
News and Notes
  • Miller scored her second and third goals of the season. Schworm also scored her third while Noel scored her second.
  • Johnson scored her first goal of the season.
  • Schworm, Carpenter and Rosa tallied their second assists of the season while Beck had her first.
  • Wood's assist was the first of her career.
