MEADVILLE, PA. – The Allegheny men's tennis team opened North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) play at home against Oberlin Wednesday (April 6).
The Gators fell to the Yeomen, ranked 15th in the region, 6-3.
Anton Hedlund (Hovas, Sweden/Katrinelundsgymnasiet),
Adam Shinomiya (Portland, Ore./International School of Beaverton) and
Julien Voisey (Tokyo, Japan/ES International School) collected the wins for the Gators in singles. Hedlund at first and Shinomiya and second both won in three sets while Voisey won the first set before his opponent retired.
Hedlund and Voisey at first doubles and
David Salazar II (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy) and
Wonjoon Cho (Wichita, Kan./Wichita Collegiate School) at third doubles had matches that went into a tiebreaker. However, neither Gator team was able to capture the tiebreaker.
Allegheny is back on the road Saturday (April 9) for a NCAC contest against Wooster.
