GRANVILLE, Ohio – Competing in its final North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Men's Tennis Championship, Allegheny defeated Ohio Wesleyan by a 5-0 count in the seventh-place match.
The Gators opened the match with a sweep in the doubles flights.
Wonjoon Cho (Wichita, Kan./Wichita Collegiate School) and
David Salazar II (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy) earned the first victory for the Gators, winning the third doubles flight 8-3.
Adam Shinomiya (Portland, Ore./International School of Beaverton) and
Nate Chubb (Akron, N.Y./Akron Central) then picked up an 8-5 win at second doubles.
Anton Hedlund (Hovas, Sweden/Katrinelundsgymnasiet) and
Julien Voisey (Tokyo, Japan/ES International School) closed out their first doubles match with an 8-6 win to complete the sweep.
Hedlund, who is currently 24th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Region singles rankings, extended the Gator lead to 4-0 as he won 6-0, 6-4 at first singles.
Will Jarvie (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) clinched the win for the Gators as he dispatched his opponent 6-4, 6-1 at fifth singles.
Allegheny concludes its season with a 9-10 overall record in the first year under head coach David Hayden.
