WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- The Allegheny men's lacrosse team fell 11-5 in a non-conference matchup at Lycoming on Saturday (March 5).
Despite the Blue and Gold being outscored 6-2 in the second quarter, in the other three periods there was never more than a two goal separation between the two teams. Allegheny had a more competitive second half as both teams added three points apiece.
Overall,
Jack Cushwa (Martinsburg, W. Va./Martinsburg) paced the Gators with two goals, while
Nicholas Cimillo (Palm Harbor, Fla./East Lake),
Aidan D'Amato (Tolland, Conn./Tolland) and
CT Graniel (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Preparatory) each found the back of the cage as well. Aiding the scorers, Graniel,
Logan Sharp (Olmsted Falls, Ohio/Olmsted Falls) and
Harrison Seabold (Silver Springs, MD./Barrie) all provided one assist on the day.
Cassady Bouthet (Vernon, Conn./Rockville) collected six ground balls as Allegheny won the loose ball battle 29 to 27. Additionally,
Anthony DeMarco (Olmsted Falls, Ohio/Olmsted Falls) and
Ryan Therkorn (Falls Church, Va./George C. Marshall) both won six face-off attempts. Defensively, Bouthet and Graniel both orchestrated two caused turnovers. In goal,
Eric Mirkovich (York, Pa./York Central) made 12 stops.
As a team, the Gators were 27-of-29 on clear attempts.
Allegheny returns home to play Mount Union on Wednesday, March 9 at 7 p.m. on Frank B. Fuhrer Field.
