MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny volleyball team fell in the quarterfinals of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships against Bethany, 3-1 (25-19, 22-25, 25-16, 25-21), Tuesday night (Nov. 1) in Meadville.
Early in the opening set, the teams traded points back-and-forth until Bethany went on a 3-0 run to move ahead, 12-8. The lead grew to 19-13 before Allegheny called their second timeout. Following the timeout, the Gators won three straight points to bring the set within three points. However, Bethany recovered after a timeout and earned a set point at 24-17. The Gators fought off a pair of set points before Bethany took the set 25-19.
The Gators got off to a fast start in the second set, taking a 5-1 lead off of
Emma Chambers' (Stoutsville, Ohio/Amanda Clearcreek) serves. The lead grew to 7-1 before Bethany went on a 9-3 run to tie it at 10. After a timeout, Allegheny gained a 17-13 lead, but once again, the Bison answered with a 6-1 run to regain the lead at 19-18. The back-and-forth continued as the Gators then went on a 3-0 run. A
Dagney Javes (Frederick, Colo./Dawson School) kill gave the Gators a set point at 25-22 before
India McCruter (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) and Chambers blocked an attack, giving the Gators a 25-22 set win.
The Bison opened up the third set with a 10-5 lead. The Gators battled back but were unable to overcome that early deficit as they fell behind 2-1 on Bethany's 25-16 third set win.
Allegheny started the fourth set on a 3-1 run, but Bethany answered with an 8-2 run to gain a 9-5 edge. The lead grew to 13-7 but a pair of kills by Chambers brought it back to a four point lead. Following a timeout, the Gators rattled off a 5-1 run to pull within a point. A
Jacy Diaz (Barranquitas, Puerto Rico/Gallatin (Tenn.)) ace tied it at 16. After exchanging points, a 3-0 Bison run made it 21-18 in their favor. Bethany earned a match point at 24-19, but kills by Chambers and
Kendall Crum (Chattanooga, Tenn./Girls Preparatory) kept Allegheny alive. However, a kill after a long rally wrapped up the match for the Bison.

- Cheyenne Wilson (Chico, Calif./Pleasant Valley), Crum and Chambers shared the team lead with nine kills while Javes had six.
- Meagan Robare (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) tallied 22 assists while Leah Ungashick (Akron, Ohio/Coventry) had nine.
- Chambers and Diaz had a pair of aces each.
- Diaz led the Gators with 17 digs while Wilson had 14.
- Javes led the team with four blocks while McCruter and Crum had three apiece.
