Gators fall to Bethany in PAC Quarterfinals, 1-0

MEADVILLE, Pa. – An early goal by Bethany proved to be the lone tally of the game as the Gators fell at home to Bethany 1-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Quarterfinals Saturday (Oct. 29).
 
The Bison got on the board in the 14th minute, finding the back of the net on a diving header off a cross.
 
For the opening half, both teams produced eight shots, though the Gators put more on net, 3-1. The Gators also owned a 3-2 advantage on corner kicks.
 
Shane Lisman (Mars, Pa./Mars) nearly tied the game in the 83rd minute. Darius Googe (East Hartford, Conn./East Hartford) crossed a ball to the far post, but Lisman's header went just wide. Googe also had a chance in the final minute, but his shot was stopped by the goalkeeper. 
 
Inside the Box
  • Bethany scored in the 14th minute on a header.
  • Brady Napoleon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) and Lisman had three shots apiece to lead the Gators.
  • Gabe Anthony (Tarentum, Pa./Highlands) made four saves.
  • Bethany owned a small edge in shots (18-16) and corners (6-5).
  • The Gators had more shots on goal, 6-5.

  • Allegheny finished the season at 5-8-4 overall and 4-2-4 in PAC play.
  • Cliff Weaver (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Einstein) and Napoleon led the team with 16 points each this season.
  • Napoleon was the top overall goal scorers for Allegheny with six.
  • Weaver led the team with six assists.
  • Anthony finished the year with 86 saves.
