MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny women's tennis team opened their 2021-22 season against Washington and Jefferson Saturday (Sept. 4).

The Gators picked up the win 7-2.

The day started with a doubles sweep.Â
Ella Swan (Nashville, Tenn./Hume-Fogg Academic) and
Jean-Arlette Legrand (San Juan, Puerto Rico) at first doubles and
Sabrina Rodriguez (Kissimmee, Fla.) and
Allison Riley (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg) at second doubles won 8-4. At third doubles,
Katherine Stancil (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) and
Taylor Hayes (Geneva, Ill./Geneva Community) went to a tiebreaker, but prevailed 7-3 to win the match 8-7.

Rodriguez at third singles and Riley at fifth singles both won 6-1, 6-1. Stancil collected a 6-2, 6-0 win at fourth singles while
Noelle Kidd (Broadview Heights, Ohio/North Royalton) had a 6-0, 6-1 win at sixth singles.

The Gators are back in action Wednesday (Sept. 8) as they travel to Division-II Edinboro.
