MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny men's soccer team opened the home portion of their season with a dramatic 3-2 double overtime win against Waynesburg Saturday (Sept. 4).

Freshman
Darius Googe (East Hartford, Conn./East Hartford) scored the golden goal just 21 seconds into the second overtime after
Shane Lisman (Mars, Pa./Mars) set him up for a breakaway.Â
The win brings the Gators to 1-1 on the season.

The Gators got on the board early as
Nicholas Taliani (Cheswick, Pa./Springdale) took advantage of a miscue in the Waynesburg zone less than two minutes into the game. Allegheny increased the lead to 2-0 as
Gunnar Brettell (Steubenville, Ohio/Indian Creek) found the back of the net off a corner kick by
Alex Riel (Bethesda, Md./Landon) early in the second half. Waynesburg fought back in the latter part of the second half, scoring twice to send the game into overtime.

Jack Barron-Sluga (Guelph, Ont./Appleby College) collected the win in net.
