Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Pair of early second half goals gives Gators 3-1 win over SVC

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny men's soccer team returned home to host Saint Vincent in nonconference action Monday (Sept. 27).

A pair of early second half goals broke a 1-1 halftime tie and lifted the Gators to a 3-1 win, improving the Blue & Gold to 4-5 on the season.

Allegheny struck first when a Cliff Weaver (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Eisntein) cross found the head of Shane Lisman (Mars, Pa./Mars Area) who snuck it past the Bearcat goalkeeper in the 23rd minute. Saint Vincent was quick to respond as they knotted it up off a corner kick in the 25th minute.

The Gators wasted no time getting to work in the second half. In the opening minute, Alex Riel (Bethesda, Md./Landon) scored unassisted to regain the lead. Just two minutes later, Lisman headed in his second goal of the game, this time off a cross from Chris Andolina (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland).

Gabe Anthony (Tarentum, Pa./Highlands) picked up the first win of his career in net, making five saves in his first collegiate start.

The Gators return to North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) action Saturday when they travel to Denison for a 2:30 p.m. start time.
