MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny men's basketball team ended the home portion of its 2021 exhibition season with a 105-92 win over Carnegie Mellon.
Both teams battled for an edge in the early stages of the game. Down by three with 14:07 left to play in the first half,
KC Johns (Sewickley Pa./Quaker Valley) scored six straight points in 30 seconds to put Allegheny up 13-10. The lead did not go back into Carnegie Mellon's favor the remainder of the game. Â
The Gators eclipsed the century mark for the third time during this abbreviated campaign. Leading the way was
Jordan Greynolds (Barberton, Ohio/Barberton), who recorded a double-double of 21 points (15 of which were from beyond-the-arc) and 10 rebounds (six of which were offensive). Greynolds also dished out a game-high five assists and one block.
Lamar Todd (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) added 17 points of his own in the win. He also hauled in four rebounds and passed out two helpers.
Nijon Kirkman (Cleveland, Ohio/John Hay) chipped in with 13 points, six rebounds and two steals.
Johns and
Brian Roberts, Jr. (Copley, Ohio/Copley) both scored 12 points apiece. Roberts, Jr. came down with five rebounds and led all players with three steals. Johns knocked down a pair of three-pointers and grabbed four rebounds.
Mike Noonan (Latrobe, Pa./Latrobe) tallied 10 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field and came away with six rebounds.
Allegheny is scheduled to complete its 2021 exhibition season with a road game against Carnegie Mellon on Sunday. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
