Gators top century mark again, race past CMU, 105-92

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny men's basketball team ended the home portion of its 2021 exhibition season with a 105-92 win over Carnegie Mellon.

Both teams battled for an edge in the early stages of the game. Down by three with 14:07 left to play in the first half, KC Johns (Sewickley Pa./Quaker Valley) scored six straight points in 30 seconds to put Allegheny up 13-10. The lead did not go back into Carnegie Mellon's favor the remainder of the game.

The Gators eclipsed the century mark for the third time during this abbreviated campaign. Leading the way was Jordan Greynolds (Barberton, Ohio/Barberton), who recorded a double-double of 21 points (15 of which were from beyond-the-arc) and 10 rebounds (six of which were offensive). Greynolds also dished out a game-high five assists and one block.

Lamar Todd (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) added 17 points of his own in the win. He also hauled in four rebounds and passed out two helpers. Nijon Kirkman (Cleveland, Ohio/John Hay) chipped in with 13 points, six rebounds and two steals.

Johns and Brian Roberts, Jr. (Copley, Ohio/Copley) both scored 12 points apiece. Roberts, Jr. came down with five rebounds and led all players with three steals. Johns knocked down a pair of three-pointers and grabbed four rebounds.

Mike Noonan (Latrobe, Pa./Latrobe) tallied 10 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field and came away with six rebounds.

Allegheny is scheduled to complete its 2021 exhibition season with a road game against Carnegie Mellon on Sunday. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
