DELAWARE, Ohio -- The Allegheny women's lacrosse team completed its 2021 abbreviated season with a 14-12 nonconference win over Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday.
Senna Perelman (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Heights)
Evi Malagise (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) and
Brenna Lawler (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) combined for the game's first four goals as Allegheny established a 4-0 lead less than five minutes into the first half. The Gators did not concede the lead for the remainder of the game.
Perelman led Allegheny's offense with six points scoring three goals and handing out a game-high three assists. She also won seven draw controls and picked up a pair of ground balls.
Emily Herrold (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) tallied a four-point night with a goal and tied for a game-best three helpers. Malagise chipped in with three goals of her own in the win.
Lawler,
Grace Baginski (Lakeville, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) and
Liz Dolan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hampton) all recorded multi-goal performances. Dolan led the game with eight draw control wins
Defensively,
Gretchen Barbera (Yarmouth, Maine/Yarmouth) notched game-highs in both caused turnovers and ground balls with four in each category.
Fiona Barrett (Danvers, Mass./Danvers) and
Sarah Thorman (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) spent a half in net each and combined for 12 saves to preserve the win.
Allegheny finishes its season with an overall record of 4-5 and 1-3 in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) competition.
