Kelley’s first-place finish leads Allegheny past Hiram, 301-335

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Allegheny hosted Hiram in its second of back-to-back matches and completed the weekend sweep with a 301-335 win at The Country Club of Meadville. 

Shane Kelley (Glenshaw, Pa./Central Catholic) shot a match-low 72 (36-36) and remained even on the day. He did so on five birdies, three of which came on the back nine.  

Matthew Del Rosso (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) and Ryan Dayton (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) tied for second at 73 (Del Rosso, 37-36; Dayton, 36-37) and one stroke over par. Dayton tallied five birdies, three on the front nine and then two on the back nine. Del Rosso shot two birdies of his own, one front nine as well as one on the back.  

Tanner Sliker (Edinboro, Pa./Cathedral Prep) and Alex Lawson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) rounded out Allegheny's starting lineup with final scores of 83 (41-42) and 84 (40-44), respectively. 

James Stoltenberg (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) competed as an individual and finished with a score of 92 (46-46). 

The Gators are scheduled to return to play on Saturday, April 24 for the first round of the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championships, hosted by Denison.
