HIRAM, Ohio -- Allegheny raced out to a 14-1 halftime lead and never trailed en route to a 23-4 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) win at Hiram.
The victory moves the Gators to an even 2-2 on the year and in the NCAC, while also marking the first pair of back-to-back wins for the program, which completed the eighth game of its existence on Saturday.
Patrick Hogan (London, Ontario / St. Andre Bessett) scored the first two goals of the game in less than 50 seconds, and had three of the first four tallies as part of his six-goal performance. Along with Hogan's double hat trick and seven points, three more Gators posted hat tricks.
Zackery Devers (Kapolei, Hawaii/Kapolei) and
Aidan Keenan (Erie, Pa./McDowell) each finished with four goals, while
Aidan D'Amato (Tolland, Conn./Tolland) notched a trio of goals. For Devers, the occasion marked his second-straight hat trick, while it was the first for both D'Amato and Keenan.
Six Gators found the back of the cage once, including
Mack Nevin (Innisfil, Ontario/Nantyr Shores), who added a pair of assists.
David Kraus (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) added four helpers of his own.
Ryan Mantione (East Northport, N.Y./John Glenn) led all players with six caused turnovers, while
Dillon D'Amato (Tolland, Conn./Tolland) was right behind with four CTs and
Pete Schellbach (New York, N.Y./Salisbury School) posted three, ahead of four teammates at two apiece.
Ryan Therkorn (Falls Church, Va./George C. Marshall) paced Allegheny with six ground balls, and Mantione,
Dillon D'Amato and
Nicholas Cimillo (Palm Harbor, Fla./East Lake) each scooped up four.
Eric Mirkovich (York, Pa./York Central) earned the win in goal, making one save and yielding only one goal over the first 30:00.
David Kratzenberg (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) recorded a pair of saves in the final 30:00.
In total, the Gators held a staggering, 65-14, advantage on shots, marking the most in a game thus far for the program. Allegheny was successful on 23-of-26 clear attempts and saw Hiram commit 43 turnovers to just 13 for the Blue & Gold.
Allegheny will wrap up NCAC competition for the season this week with a pair of games against Kenyon. On Wednesday, April 21, the Gators will travel to Gambier, Ohio for a 4 p.m. face-off, before hosting the Lords at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 25.
