WOOSTER, Ohio -- Allegheny hit the road for its North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) opener, falling at Wooster by a final tally of 9-0.
Five of the matches went to tiebreakers, including a pair of doubles bouts. At second doubles,
Wonjoon Cho (Wichita, Kan./Wichita Collegiate School) and
Julien Voisey (Tokyo, Japan/ES International School) dropped the tiebreaker 8-4 in their 8-7 setback, while
Nate Chubb (Akron, N.Y./Akron Central) and
Guillaume Emiliano Loinard-Gonzalez (Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico/Universidad Jefferson Morelia) played a marathon 13-11 tiebreak in their 8-7 defeat.
In singles action,
Adam Shinomiya (Portland, Ore./International School of Beaverton) rebounded for a second set win before falling in the tiebreaker, 6-4, 3-6, 10-7 at second singles. Voisey also saw an identical 10-7 tiebreaker fall his opponent's way in his fourth singles match, 2-6, 7-5, 10-7, while
Fabrizzio Reategui (Boca Raton, Fla./Boca Prep International) dropped a 6-2, 2-6, 10-8 match at sixth singles.
The team teams are set to square off in Meadville tomorrow, Sunday, April 11. The match is currently set to be held indoors at the David V. Wise Center immediately following the women's match which begins at 11 a.m. However, in the event that anticipated precipitation misses Crawford County, the match will be played outdoors simultaneously with the women's match.
