MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny women's lacrosse team dropped its 2021 home opener in a nonconference match against Wooster at Frank B. Fuhrer Field by a score of 19-11.
Senna Perelman (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) led the Gators with four goals, five ground balls and four caused turnovers. She was also equaled by teammate
Evi Malagise (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) with a game-high 10 shots. Malagise finished second on the team with three points, including a pair of goals.Â
The tandem of
Mary Allen (Victor, N.Y./Victor) and
Grace Baginski (Lakeville, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) each notched a pair of tallies, while
Brenna Lawler (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) and
Liz Dolan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hampton) each added a goal.
Six different Gators caused two turnovers, including
Gretchen Barbera (Yarmouth, Maine/Yarmouth), who finished second on the squad with four ground balls. Six Gators posted three ground balls, including Dolan who led the team with four draw controls.
Fiona Barrett (Danvers, Mass./Danvers) turned away 12 shots in the first 49:53, before being relieved by
Sarah Thorman (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) to close out the match.
Allegheny's scheduled North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC)-opening match at Kenyon for Tuesday, March 30 has been postponed, so the Gators are scheduled to return to action at home against Kenyon on Saturday, April 3. Opening draw is slated for 1 p.m.
