CLARION, Pa. -- The Allegheny men's basketball team played against its second straight Division II foe as it traveled to Clarion on Tuesday (Nov. 23), ultimately dropping the 84-65 decision.
The Golden Eagles jumped out to an early lead before a
Brian Roberts, Jr. (Copley, Ohio/Copley) three tied the game at 12-12. A minute later,
Peter Snipes (Upper Marlboro, Md./Dr. Henry A. Wise, Jr.) put the Gators in front with another three. The Allegheny advantage grew to five before Clarion mounted a comeback, taking a 41-31 lead at halftime.
The Gators opened the second half with a trio of three pointers to pull within five. However, the Golden Eagles controlled the pace after that to pick up the win.
Andre Wilder (Beaver Falls, Pa./Lincoln Park) led Allegheny with a season- and career-high 21 points, plus nine rebounds to also pace the Gators in the category. Wilder drained three trifectas, as did Roberts, Jr. en route to 15 points. The latter also dished out a game-best six assists.
Jordan Greynolds (Barberton, Ohio/Barberton) was just shy of double-digits as he finished the game with nine points.
The Gators are back in action Sunday (Nov. 28) as they make a short trip to Thiel for a nonconference game at 5 pm.
