Late goal spoils Gators' senior day

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny women's soccer team hosted North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) foe Wittenberg in their final game of the 2021 season Saturday (Oct. 30).

After back-and-forth play for the majority of the game, the Tigers broke through in the 88th minute to pick up the 1-0 win.  The Gators end the season with a 5-11-1 record.

Before the game, the Gators honored their eight seniors: Jordan Mehalko (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park), Gabby Culotta (Willoughby, Ohio/Andrews Osborne Academy), Kaitlynn Rees (Anaheim, Calif./Fullerton Union), Riley Sawyer (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt), Maddy Hill (Volant, Pa./Wilmington), Emily Orr (Coraopolis, Pa./Moon Area), Sarah Lipniskis (Sarver, Pa./Freeport) and Alex Klare (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy).

Offensively, Taylor McKindley (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic) and Sawyer had two shots on target to lead the Gators.  Wittenberg held a slight edge in shots, 13-11, with both teams having seven shots on goal.

Rees had three saves in the opening half while Culotta made two saves in the second half.
