Gators fall to Ohio Wesleyan in season finale

DELAWARE, Ohio -- The Allegheny field hockey team completed their second season of competition at North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) opponent Ohio Wesleyan Saturday (Oct. 30).

The Gators fell to the Battling Bishops 3-1.  Allegheny finished the season 8-9 overall and 2-6 in NCAC play.

Ramsay Smith (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) gave the Gators an early lead.  In the 10th minute of play, Smith got past an Ohio Wesleyan defender, striking a wrist shot from the left side which found the back of the net.

After a scoreless second quarter, the Battling Bishops scored twice in the third and added one more in the fourth to collect the win.

Kelsey Anderson (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) and Becca Winton (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) also had shots for Allegheny.  Meredythe Baird (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Holy Redeemer) made three saves in net while Hallie Reiger (Oklahoma City, Okla./Casady) had a pair of stops.
