MEADVILLE, Pa. — Allegheny struck first, but it was Oberlin who recorded the final two goals, including the game-winner 2:08 into overtime, in a 2-1 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) men's soccer decision.
The score remained 1-0 from the 31st minute to the 71st minute when the Yeomen scored a short goal, tying the game. Those proved to be the only goals in regulation as the game went into overtime.
After back-and-forth play to start the game, the Gators got on the board first in the 31st minute.
Cliff Weaver (Silver Springs, Md./Albert Einstein) found a pass from
Nicholas Taliani (Cheswick, Pa./Springdale) in free space, quickly shooting it to the top right corner. The goal was Weaver's second of the season.
Jack Barron-Sluga (Guelph, Ont./Appleby College) made four saves while playing the entire match in goal.
The Gators remain at home on Saturday, Oct. 16, hosting Ohio Wesleyan at 3:30 on the Robertson Grass Field.
