GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny women's lacrosse team opened up their 2020 campaign with an 18-5 win on the road at Thiel Wednesday.
The win marked the fifth straight season opening win for the Gators.
Brenna Lawler (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) had the game-high in goals, finding the back of the net four times.
Evi Malagise (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) netted a hat trick with a pair of assists.
Danielle Thompson (Eden, N.Y./Eden) also tallied five points on two goals and three assists.
Grace Baginski (Lakeville, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) had four points on three goals and an assist.
Devin Gaffney (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) and
Senna Perelman (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) had two goals and an assist each.
Mary Allen (Victor, N.Y./Victor) and
Chelsea Esser (Huntington, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) had a pair of assists while
Rhiannon King (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan) and
Elizabeth Dolan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hampton) each had a goal.
Defensively, Dolan had three caused turnovers and three groundballs while leading with six draw controls.
Gretchen Barbera (Yarmouth, Maine/Yarmouth) had three groundballs while causing a pair of turnovers.
Steph Shakespeare (Pittsburgh, Pa./Peters Township) picked up the win in net, playing in the opening thirty minutes.
Fiona Barrett (Danvers, Mass./Danvers) led the Gators with five saves.
The Gators return to action Tuesday (March 3) at Mount Union.
