Box Score 2 BECKLEY, W. Va. -- The Allegheny baseball team opened the 2020 campaign with a doubleheader as part of a three-game set against John Carroll at Linda K. Epling Stadium.
This weekend's games mark the fourth consecutive year that the two programs have made the trip south to open the season. Saturday's doubleheader went to the Blue Streaks as John Carroll took both ends of the DH by 16-9 and 18-5 finals.
In the opener,
Brett Heckert (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) had the top day at the plate of his career, finishing with career highs of four hits (4-for-4), two doubles and five RBI.
Sean Kealey (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) received a no-decision on the mound, striking out nine and walking none in 6.0 innings of work. The lefty surrendered eight hits and six earned runs.
Game three is set to take place at noon tomorrow, Sunday, Feb. 23.
