OBERLIN, Ohio --
Jordan Rawls (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) closed in on the Allegheny career scoring record, but his 25 points against Oberlin weren't enough to lead the Gators past the Yeomen in a 74-64 defeat on the road.
The Blue & Gold move to 11-11 on the season, and 5-10 in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC), good for a tie for seventh place currently with this Saturday's opponent, Denison. That match up against the Big Red is set for 4 p.m. at the James H. Mullen, Jr. Arena and will feature Senior Day festivities for three Gators prior to tipoff.
Rawls currently sits at 1,683 points entering his penultimate home game on Saturday. With 11 points against the Big Red, he would tie the mark and 12-plus would establish a new career record. On Wednesday night, the forward connected on 8-of-12 shots from the field and 4-of-7 from the three-point line. In addition to five made free throws, he added seven rebounds to pull within nine boards of 750 for his career.
Nijon Kirkman (Cleveland, Ohio/John Hay) was the lone Gator to join Rawls in double figures, putting up 17 points, his third game of the last four he topped 10 points.
Keeno Holmes (Pittsburgh, Pa./Lincoln Park) and
Brian Roberts, Jr. (Copley, Ohio/Copley) combined for 15 points with eight and seven, respectively.
