MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny men's basketball team picked up the new year where it left off at the end of 2019, earning a 76-70 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) win over Wabash on Saturday, Jan. 4.

The sophomore also grabbed six boards. Caden Hinckley (Boise, Idaho/Mount Lebanon (Pa.)) was second with 19 points, fueled by 15 in the first half. Hinckley knocked down a pair of three-pointers for a consecutive game and snagged eight rebounds and also totaled five assists.

Fellow sophomore Brian Roberts, Jr. (Copley, Ohio/Copley) reached double digits for the fourth-straight game since his return by putting up 13 points and being one of three Gators with four assists (also: Brendon Urso (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) and Keeno Holmes (Pittsburgh, Pa./Lincoln Park). Jordan Rawls (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) reached double figures for the 26th straight game when he tallied 11 points, adding 16 rebounds for his 20th career double-double.

For the game, the Gators knocked down 12 three-pointers, their second most of the season. Defensively, they hold the Little Giants, who entered averaging 39.2 percent from three-point range to just 13.0 percent (3-of-23) and only 38.7 percent (24-of-62) from the field (season average: 48.3).
