Pittsburgh, Pa. – Two goals in the final eight minutes of the match led to the Allegheny women's soccer team's first loss of the season on Saturday (Sept. 7) as it fell 3-2 at Chatham.
The loss moves the Gators to 2-1-1 while the Cougars climb to 2-0-1.
After a scoreless first half,
Taylor Renk (Cranberry Township, Pa./Oakland Catholic) started the scoring as she notched her second goal of the season in the 61st minute off an assist from
Bryanna Urso (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel).
Chatham tied the score at 1 with a penalty kick goal in the 77th minute. 12 seconds later,
Emily Orr (Coraopolis, Pa./Moon Area) put the Gators on top again off a pass from Renk.
Another penalty goal in the 83rd minute tied the game once again, and then Chatham scored the final goal in the 87th minute, putting the Cougars in the lead permanently.
Renk led the team with four shots, a goal, and an assist. Orr followed with three shots and a goal.
Shannon McGuinn (Warminster, Pa./William Tennant) and
Sasha Rosa (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) each tallied a shot-on-goal as well.
Maya Hackman (Derry, Pa./Derry Area) made seven saves in the loss.
The Gators are back in action as they travel to Fredonia on Wednesday (Sept. 11) for a nonconference matchup set for 7:00 P.M.
