Allegheny eliminated from NCAC Tournament by Denison

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio -- The first trip to the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Tournament for the Allegheny baseball team came to a close following a 7-0 loss to No. 16 Denison on Friday, May 10.

With the loss, the Gators conclude the 2019 campaign at 22-17 overall after recovering from an 0-5 start to go 10-7 in league play and earn the third seed in the conference tournament.

Ben Kosbie (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady Side Academy) led the offense by going 2-for-4 on the day, his fourth multi-hit game of the season. Tommy Cannon (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) and Vincent Carone (Erie, Pa./McDowell) both added base hits in the final games of their careers.

Nate Pastorek (Sarver, Pa./Freeport) suffered the loss, falling to 1-4 on the season after working the first 2.2 innings and giving up four hits and four runs with a pair of strikeouts and pair of walks. Keegan Phillips (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) made his first appearance on the mound of 2019 when he pitched 1.0 inning and gave up three hits an a run. Cam Karnik (Lorain, Ohio/Amherst Steele) surrendered two hits and two runs in 2.1 innings of relief and Dalton Donachie (New Springfield, Ohio/Springfield Local) capped his career by pitching in all three NCAC Tournament games and moving into the conference lead with 20 appearances. He pitched the final 2.0 innings and allowed two hits and struck out two.

The Big Red scored four in the bottom of the third before adding another in the fourth and two in the seventh in the victory.
