WASHINGTON, Pa.—The Allegheny College women's tennis team picked up a 7-2 win over Washington & Jefferson Wednesday (April 17) in non-conference play.
The Gators opened the match by sweeping doubles.
Miharu Koh (Tokyo, Japan/Monta Vista (Calif.) and
Savannah Gray (San Diego, Calif./Mt. Carmel) won 8-3 at first doubles. At second doubles,
Hannah Schaffer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) and
Candace Burkhammer (Rock Creek, Ohio/Jefferson Area) won 8-2.
Satori Chin (Philadelphia, Pa./Friends Central) and
Serena Lin (Okatie, S.C./Bluffton) completed the sweep at third doubles, 8-3.
Chin was first off the court in singles, winning in the fifth flight 6-2, 6-1. Schaffer sealed the match for the Gators as she won at third singles 6-3, 6-3.
Gretchen Norton (Avon, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) picked up a win 6-2, 6-1 win at sixth singles, while Gray won 6-0, 6-3 at second singles for the Gators final win of the evening.
The Gators are back in action Saturday (April 20) at Oberlin College.
