HIRAM, Ohio -- The Gators trailed by just three (49-46) at halftime thanks to 24 first-half points from
Jordan Rawls, but an 8-for-12 showing from beyond-the-arc from Hiram in the second half helped the Terriers past Allegheny, 98-82.
The loss drops Allegheny to 9-14 overall and 5-12 in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) heading into the regular season finale on Saturday, Feb. 16, a 4 p.m. tip-off against Kenyon on Senior Day at Mullen Arena.
After scoring 25 first-half points en route to a career-best 42 in Saturday's 90-75 win at Denison, Rawls followed that performance up with 24 in the first half at Hiram. He connected on 7-of-10 field goals, including 4-of-7 from three, and was 6-of-6 at the free-throw line in the first 20 minutes, going over 1,200 points for his career (just the 15th Gator to do so). With 12 rebounds the junior contributed his 15th career double-double and seventh in 2018-19, to go with his 26 total points and a career-best six blocks.
Brian Roberts, Jr. added 15 points and a season- and game-high nine assists, with three steals as well.
Caden Hinckley narrowly missed his fourth-straight double-double, coming up one rebound shy at 10 points and nine boards, in addition to four blocks, the most he's had yet this season.
Jordan Greynolds and
Billy Urso each contributed nine points, with Greynolds matching his season best with 10 rebounds. Urso's three triples give him 182 for his career, good for third on the Allegheny all-time list.
