INDIANAPOLIS -- After finishing fifth at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Saturday (Nov. 16), the Allegheny women's cross country team earned an at-large bid for the 2019 NCAA Division III Championships.

The NCAA Championships take place Saturday (Nov. 23) at Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky.

The Gators were one of 16 school to receive at-large bids after an impressive and consistent showing during the season. Those 16 teams will be joined by 16 others that earned automatic berths by finishing in the top two of their region.

For Allegheny, this marks their fifth-straight appearance in the meet, and 17th overall. Last season, the Gators finished 13th at the Championships. In 2016, the Gators also finished 13th when the race was held in Louisville.

Junior Mica Hanish (Baden, Pa./Ambridge) looks to lead the way for the Gators after finishing second at the regionals. Junior Sarah Lucas (Charleroi, Pa./Ringgold) (24th), sophomore Molly Tarvin (New Tripoli, Pa./Northwest Lehigh) (27th) and senior Jacelyn Alberts (West Salem, Ohio/Northwestern) (48th) all finished in the top 50 at regionals, while freshman Sarah Maue (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua) finished 55th to round out the top five for the Gators on Saturday.
