OBERLIN, Ohio - The Allegheny men's soccer team fell in double overtime, 2-1, to North Coast Athletic Conference rival Oberlin on Wednesday (Oct. 16).
Ryan Kim tallied the first goal for the Yeomen in the 18th minute. Then the Gators went to the offensive to start the second half and were able to score the tying goal.
Danny Reid (Lyme, Conn./Lyme-Old Lyme) pushed a through-pass right between the middle defenders and found a sprinting
Jacob LeSane (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) for the shot and score in the 47th minute.
In the second overtime, Thomas Kanter found the back of the net as Oberlin was streaking up the field, and won the game with under four minutes remaining.
Reid lead the offense with three shots, two on goal, while
Dillon Thoma (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) and
Eddie Opalko (Springdale, Pa./Pittsburgh Central Catholic) followed with two. Three other Gators also tallied a shot to bring Allegheny's total to 11.
Nick Ferreira (Chester, N,Y./Warwick Valley) served as the Gator's goalie and made five saves.
Allegheny heads back to the pitch for an away conference match at Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday (Oct. 19). First kick is set for 5:00 p.m.
