MEADVILLE, Pa.-- The Allegheny College women's basketball team closed the 2017-18 home portion of their schedule with a 74-51 loss to Oberlin College Wednesday (Feb. 14) in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) play.

The Yeowomen got out to a quick start, taking a 7-2 lead, but a deep
Delaney Arbore three brought the game within two. Â The Gators continued to shoot well, bringing the game within one, 11-10, on a
Rylee Donovan three. Â The game remained tight through the final minutes of the quarter, but Oberlin ended the period on a 6-2 run to take a 27-20 lead into the second.

Oberlin kept the Gators off the board during the first seven minutes of the second as their lead grew to as much as 22. Â Arbore broke up the run with a three, as the Gators came on strong late to make it a 46-29 game at the half.

Arbore led the Gators with 10 points in the opening 20 minutes. Â
Julianna Skowron scored six while
Zoe Soilis had five. Â
Madison Caufield had four rebounds. Â
The Gators scored the opening points of the second half on a Donovan three. Â However, the Yeowomen scored the next eight to take a 54-32 lead. Â Zoilis broke up the run with a three, but Oberlin did not allow a basket for the next several minutes as their advantage grew to 33, 70-37, heading into the fourth.

In the fourth quarter, the Gators outscored the Yeowomen 15-4, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit as they fell 74-52.

Arbore and Soilis led the Gators with 14 points apiece. Â Soilis was five-of-six from the floor, including three-of-four from three. Â Skowron finished with seven points while Donovan,
Brooke Smith and
Maia Joiner had six points apiece. Â Donovan had a team-high four assists while Skowron had three. Smith and Caufield had four rebounds each to lead Allegheny. Â

For the game, the Gators shot 33.3% (19-of-57) from the floor. Â From beyond the three-point line, Allegheny hit 10-of-21 (47.6%) attempts. Â

Oberlin was led by Olivia Canning's 13 points and eight rebounds. Â All five starters for the Yeowomen finished in double-digits. Â Abby Andrews had 12 points, Tyler Parlor had 11 points and Ally Driscoll and Alex Stipano had 10 points apiece.

The Gators conclude their regular season on the road Saturday (Feb. 17) at Ohio Wesleyan University.
