Gator Women Defeat Grove City in Dual Meet

GROVE CITY, Pa.—The Allegheny College women's swimming and diving team picked up a dual win over Grove City College Saturday (Oct. 27) on the road.
 
The Gators won by a score of 212-79. 
 
Lauren Isaacs led the way for the Gators individually with three wins.  She swept the two breaststroke events, winning the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.38 and the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:31.78. She also placed first in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:19.70.
 
Aimee and Anna Verardi won two events apiece. Aimee Verardi captured the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.56 and the 100-yard fly with a time of 1:02.23. Anna Verardi won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.54 and the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:12.46.
 
McClaren Rodriguez took first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:00.65 and second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.33. Sadie Brown also had a first and second place finish. In the 50-yard freestyle, she won with a time of 25.25. Brown also took second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.35. Miranda Farley won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:37.62.  Farley also placed second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:04.09 and third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 57.06.
 
Maddie Janvrin had a trio of second place finishes.  Those finishes came in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.33), 200-yard backstroke (2:16.12) and the 200-yard IM (2:23.50). Megan Corletti finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:12.59 as well as the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:35.13.
 
Alyson Codner placed second in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:55.94 and third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:51.53.  Rachel Tobler also had a second-place in the 200-yard fly with a time of 2:22.97 and a third-place in the 100-yard fly with a time of 1:03.20. Riley Aul took third in the 200-yard fly with a time of 2:31.20.
 
The Gator 200-yard medley relay team of Anna Verardi, Isaacs, Aimee Verardi and Rodriguez won with a time of 1:51.26. The 200-yard free relay team of Rodriguez, Anna Verardi, Farley and Aimee Verardi won with a time of 1:40.56.
 
Brionna Litwin swept the diving portion of the day. She won the three-meter dive with a score of 277.60 and the one-meter dive with a score of 260.70. Chelsea Pietrzycki finished second in the one-meter dive with a score of 257.60 and second in the three-meter dive with a score of 235. 
 
The Gators open the home portion of their schedule next Saturday (Nov. 3) when they host Westminster College.
