Gators Drop Season Finale to Kenyon

GAMBIER, Ohio - The Allegheny women's soccer team suffered a 5-0 loss at Kenyon in the 2018 season finale.

Kenyon's Samantha Hayes scored two goals in the first 14 minutes of regulation, and the Gators were unable to recover, as they close the 2018 season with a 6-10-2 overall record.

Hayes scored her first tally of the rainy afternoon just 3:44 into play, off an assist from Kiele Anderson, before burying her second into the top corner of the net at the 14-minute mark to put the hosts up 2-0.

Allegheny was unable to must much offense over the duration of the first half, as the Gators were held without a shot or corner kick for the first 45 minutes of play.

Just two minutes into the second stanza, the Ladies went up 3-0 on a goal from Meredith Rogers, before Hayes' third goal in the 59th minute made it 4-0. Just 64 seconds after Hayes' third tally of the day, the Ladies' Fallon Raviol connected on a header to give the hosts a 5-0 lead.

After Raviol's goal, Allegheny would take the game's final three shots, but Kenyon keeper Jillian Countey saved attempts by Jordan Mehalko in the 67th minute and Isabella Martinez in the 72nd minute to preserve the shutout and close out the win.

The Ladies ended the afternoon with an 11-2 advantage in shots and an 8-2 margin in corner kicks. County finished the game with two saves in goal for Kenyon, while Allegheny keeper Maya Hackman was credited with one stop.

The Gators end the 2018 season with a 6-10-2 overall record, and 1-5-2 mark in the North Coast Athletic Conference, while Kenyon improved to 8-5-3 overall, and 4-2-2 in the NCAC.
