Allegheny opens its 122nd season of Gator football at local non-conference rival Thiel College under the lights at Alumni Stadium in the first Thursday night game in Gator history.  This week's game kicks off B.J. Hammer's second season at the helm of the Gators, and his squad welcomes back 35 letterwinners from last year's campaign, including 19 players who made at least three starts. This marks the fourth straight season that the Gators and Tomcats face off on opening day, with Thiel winning each of the last three meetings.  The Gators are searching for their first season-opening win since 2012, while they last defeated Thiel in week one of the 1997 season by a 45-19 count.
