WOOSTER, Ohio - Freshman
Jared Szklenski led a group of five Allegheny runners to finish in the top 20 at the College of Wooster 5K Twilight Challenge.
Szklenski traversed the Wooster course in 16:10.9 to place fifth overall in a field of 46 runners at the four-team unscored event.
Junior
Louis McUmber was the Gators' number-two man, placing eighth in a time of 16:22.4, while sophomore
Luke Kellett took 12th in 16:28.4.
Sophomore Gabe Herbst was a fourth Gator to place in the top-15, as he turned in a time of 16:32.0 to take 14th, while fellow second-year
Christian Geer was the fifth Gator in the top-20, taking 18th in 16:44.2.
With a time of 17:08.6,
Noah Spiro placed 24th, while rookie Will Sutherland took 28th in 17:30.6.
Wooster's Jackson Feinknopf was the individual champion, breaking the tape in 15:37.6, four seconds ahead of teammate Brian Lief, who placed second.
The Gators' sights are now on the postseason, as they will prep for the 2017 NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 11 at Ohio Wesleyan University.
