BRADFORD, Pa. – The Gators were unable to seize the momentum from a 10-point run in the second set, as they fell to Pitt-Bradford 3-1 in non-conference action.
After dropping set one 25-16, the Gators found themselves down 17-15 in the second set, only to roar back to take the final 10 points. However, the visitors would come up short in a pair of back-and-forth sets, dropping the third 26-24, and the fourth 27-25.
Offensively, four different hitters tallied at least seven kills.
Leah Franzluebbers continued her stellar season with a team-best nine kills, while she added five blocks.
Karissa Welker and
Hannah Cubarney each found the floor eight times, while
Meghan Uht tallied seven kills, one shy of a career best.
At the net, the Gators totaled 10 blocks on the night, their second-highest single-match output of the season. Franzluebbers and Uht shared the team lead with five apiece, while Welker and
Alysha Crowther tallied four.
A trio of Gators tallied double-figure digs, as
Terra Schall scooped up 19,
Rachel Slotterback 17, and
Justine Kelly 12, while Kelly completed the double-double with 36 assists. After their performances at Bradford, Schall climbed to sixth in program history in career digs (1,453), and Kelly eighth in career helpers (2,275).
The Gator service game produced 10 aces, led by five from
Kylee Karczewski, while the junior also added seven digs.
With the defeat, Allegheny falls to 8-6, while Pitt-Bradford continues its strong start to the season and moves to 10-3.
Allegheny will now take to the road to open North Coast Athletic Conference play with a two-day swing. The Gators will travel to Greencastle, Indiana for a 3 p.m. match against DePauw on Saturday, before taking on #6 Wittenberg a day later at 1 p.m.
