MEADVILLE, PA.— The Allegheny College women's soccer team fell to Ohio Wesleyan University 2-0 in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Saturday (Oct. 15) on Senior Day.
The Battling Bishops struck first in the fourth minute when Hannah Joseph scored from just outside the box. The Gators earned a penalty kick in the 28
th minute but
Sarah Sherwood's shot was saved by Mackenzie Brunke.
Throughout the rest of the half, the Gators continued to pressure the Battling Bishops, earning five total corners. Late in the opening half, the Gators earned a second penalty kick but once again, Brunke made the save to keep the score at 1-0 heading into halftime.
The Battling Bishops increased their lead to 2-0 twelve minutes into the second half when Alyssa Giarusso found Emma Felty who scored from 10-yards out.
The Gators offense continued to pressure the Battling Bishop defense. Minutes after the second goal, the Gators earned three corner kicks in succession but were unable to find the back of the net.
For the half, the Gators outshot the Battling Bishops 6-4 but the Ohio Wesleyan defense kept the Gators off the scoreboard to secure the win.
For the game, the Gators owned the edge in shots (12-8) and corners (10-1).

Isabella Martinez had two shots apiece.
Colleen Fleming made two saves in net for the Gators.
Prior to the game, the Gators' six seniors were recognized for their four-year careers, including Thiessen, Eisemann, Fleming,
Kayla Dantona,
Emma Yates, and
Liana Leja.
The Gators return to the road for a pair of home games next week, starting at Hiram College on Tuesday (Oct. 18) at 7:30 p.m.
