MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny College men's soccer team fell to Carnegie Mellon, 3-0, in the Gators' non-conference finale this evening from a soggy Frank B. Fuhrer Field.
Allegheny (1-6-2, 0-0-1 NCAC) outshot Carnegie Mellon (7-1-1, 0-0-0 UAA) in the first half, but could only manage to force the Tartans goalkeeper's hand once. The Gators also generated four corner kick opportunities in the opening 45 minutes to Carnegie Mellon's two.
The Tartans got on the board in the 13th minute when a cross from Philip Petrakian met the head of Stefan Dasbach and the redirection soared just over Allegheny senior goalkeeper
Jake Pugliese. Dasbach added his second 10 minutes later when he was in the right place to slot home a rebound off a shot from William Webb.
Carnegie Mellon forced Pugliese into four second-half saves before he gave way to junior goalkeeper
Chris DeNelle with 10 minutes to go. DeNelle stopped two shots as well, but he allowed Dasbach to complete a hat trick in the 83rd minute when the Tartan tapped in a cross from right inside the box.
Pugliese made five saves in total on the evening. Sophomore forward
Tolossa Hassan fired a team-high three shots.
Allegheny returns to North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) action on Saturday, Oct. 3 at Wittenberg.
