MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny College women's basketball team closed a program-record six-game home stand with a 75-62 victory over Houghton College this evening from the David V. Wise Center.
Allegheny (5-3, 0-0 NCAC) received a double-double from senior forward
Kaitlyn Fromknecht, who scored 14 points and pulled down 14 rebounds on the evening. Fromknecht kept her stellar defensive form as well as she collected six blocks and three steals.

Delaney Arbore led the Gators with 15 points and fellow rookie
Candaisy Crawford chipped in with 10. Senior guard
Rachel Vigliotti dished out six assists in just 14 minutes of play as Allegheny shot 40 percent (26-65) from the field and made seven-of-22 attempts from behind the arc.
After the teams played a relatively back-and-forth first quarter, the hosts expanded on their 17-13 lead after one by outscoring Houghton (3-3, 0-0 Empire 8), 25-14, in the second frame. The Gator advantage reached 10 early in the stanza with two layups from Fromknecht and a basket by Vigliotti. The Highlanders cut the deficit to eight twice, but an Arbore trifecta pushed the lead back to 11.
The difference was single-digits once more in the middle of the quarter as Maisie Pipher scored in the paint, but Allegheny responded with a 9-3 run to make it 40-25. Sophomore guard
Amanda Beebe closed the stretch with a jumper, while Crawford scored five of her 10 points during the run.
The advantage hit 20 to begin the second half as Vigliotti made a layup and Crawford drilled a three. It would then reach a game-high 27 with 4:20 remaining in the frame after 10 consecutive points by the Gators. Fromknecht tallied four points in that timeframe, while Beebe and seniors
Emma Pellicano and
Ifeyinwa Uwazie also made contributions on the scoreboard.
Allegheny was able to get some of its younger players extended minutes in the second half, including freshman forward
Emily Smith, who scored five points and grabbed a pair of caroms.
The Gators once again dominated in bench points, holding a 40-13 edge over Houghton. Allegheny also scored 16 fastbreak points to the Highlanders' two.
Houghton was led by Elle Reed and Pipher. Reed owned game-high scoring honors with 19, while Pipher notched a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Allegheny is back in action on Wednesday, Dec. 9 as it returns to North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) play when it travels to Kenyon College.
