Denison struck first with an eight-play, 74-yard drive to take the early lead, building a 14-0 lead by the end of the first quarter by holding Allegheny to three punts on first quarter possessions while holding the ball for approximately nine minutes of the quarter.
A Big Red field goal to start the second quarter gave Denison a 17-0 lead, as Allegheny was once again forced to punt during the ensuing possession. However, the Gators put themselves in position to score after Clark sacked Denison quarterback Brandon Sklenar for four yards, forcing the fumble that was scooped up by Dean and returned 14 yards to the Denison 11-yard line. However, the Denison defense shut the door on the Allegheny opportunity and a missed field goal kept the Gators scoreless.
Denison responded from the missed field goal with a touchdown to take a 24-0 lead with 30 seconds left in the second quarter, taking the lead into halftime.
The Gators found pay dirt in their first possession of the second half, as the Allegheny offense began to click. Nigro kicked off the drive with a six-yard completion to Smith before 17 and 10-yard rushes by Deichler pushed the Gators across the 50-yard line and into Denison territory. After a nine-yard run by Deichler put the Gators inside the red zone, Nigro found Niklaus on a 17-yard pass for the Gator touchdown.
Denison scored touchdowns on the next three possessions while forcing fourth down turnovers on both Allegheny drives to close out the third and picking off McLaughlin during Allegheny's first drive of the fourth. The Big Red sealed the win by forcing a final Allegheny turnover on downs.
The Gators will close the 2014 season on Nov. 15 against Wittenberg, when the team will honor the 19 seniors participating in their final home game for the Allegheny football program.
