Senior Emily Forner (Beaver, Pa./Beaver Area) became the first individual national champion in Allegheny women's track & field history as she claimed the title in the indoor 3,000-meter run at the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships hosted at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center. Forner, who entered action on Saturday afternoon with both the top seed time and the fastest race in the preliminaries, won by more than six seconds with a time of 9:39.56, to top Rory Kelly of Middlebury who was second at 9:45.85. The Allegheny senior and cross country All-American improved upon her preliminary time of 9:53.47 by nearly 14 seconds and her top seed time of 9:41.15 by more than a second.
