At the Denison University Last Chance on Fri. Feb. 23, junior Kurtis Williams placed first in a field of 22 in the weight throw with a top heave of 17.17 meters, more than five feet further than the second place finisher.  After opening the evening with a throw of an even 16.00 meters, Williams' second effort of the night proved to be the winner. All five of his attempts would have placed first in the field, as his third throw measured 16.30 meters, his fourth 15.93 meters, and his fifth 16.44 meters. His 17.17 meter heave was his best of the season and second best of his career, behind only a 17.38 meter throw at last season's NCAC Championships, while it is also the top throw by an NCAC athlete this year. Â
