Allegheny junior Tom Cannon enjoyed a fine start to the 2017 season, as he batted .636 with one home run, four doubles, five RBIs, and a .765 on-base percentage during the Gators' three-game series with John Carroll over the weekend. Â In the opener on Saturday, a 10-9 loss in 15-innings, he reached base safely seven times, with four hits (three doubles), two walks, and a hit-by-pitch. In the nightcap, a 17-6 win, Cannon went 2-for-2 with a home run, two RBIs, three walks, and four runs scored. He closed out the weekend on Sunday with an RBI double, while also throwing out a pair of potential base thieves.
