Renea Surrena served as the Gators’ starting setter for three straight years while earning First Team All-Conference plaudits from the NCAC in each of those seasons.
Boasting a career winning percentage of .750, including a program-record 44 wins in 1988, Allegheny was one of the region’s top teams during Surrena’s tenure.
After the 1990 and 1991 seasons, Surrena was selected to the NCAA All-East Region Team.
Ranking second all-time at Allegheny in career assists (3,616), she paced the Gators to four consecutive North Coast Athletic Conference regular season championships including a pair of undefeated league campaigns.
Surrena is a member of the NCAC’s celebrated 1984-93 Volleyball All-Decade Team.
Surrena currently serves as the operations manager for Walker Benefits, Inc., a third-party administration firm specializing in 401(k) plans. She has been married to Rob Gaus for 16 years and has two children, Kelli (13) and Christian (10). Residing in Fombell, Pa., Surrena is president of the Riverside Area Youth Soccer League and secretary for the PA West-West District Soccer Association.
